When playtesting today I've experienced quite a lot of crashes.

Here's a list of them which I will update if I encounter more:

Crash right after joining the game. I get to the team selection/spectator screen and there are quite some texture errors (pink objects, yellow textures with some black text). About 2-3 seconds later the game crashes. (Occured 3 times in a row now and I tested it with all graphic specs already)

During a fight I also crashed 2 times now so there might be something shooting related but other than that it appeared more or less random.

I suggested this already ingame but you should think about implementing some automatic crashdump generation so you can debug those seemingly random crashes better. Here's quite a good code example on how to do this: You are not allowed to view links. Thanks for your feedback MrHankey Smiley

Indeed, I noticed that you crashed many times. I guess that must have been pretty annoying for you :/

We are currently trying to figure out the reasons for the loading crashes (black screen crashes, or post-connection crashes) and the in-game random crashes.

And by the way, thanks for the link, I'll give it a shot (after I get it translated on Google :p)

Edit:
I am about to upload a patch that will include e minidump generation when the game crashes. The minidump is uploaded to our servers automatically. You won't notice any change except the .dmp files in your casusbelli directory (you might want to delete them from times to times Wink).

Thanks again for the tip, Hankey Wink

MrHankey, you still have random crashes. I had several thoughts that could help to figure out the reasons for these crashes.

First, could you try to play Crysis Wars in multiplayer on a big map. Then you tell me if you're experiencing the same crashes.

Second, I was wondering if it could be related to a few Windows DLLs that are corrupted or something. If Especially I was thinking of msvcrt.dll and d3dx9_34.dll.
Could you tell me what is the exact size of each of these DLLs? (you can find them in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder).

Mines are: 620 Kb (634 880 bytes) and 4,28 Mb (4 496 232 bytes).

Thanks for your help Wink

The windows DLLs are the same here and i just played ~30 mins on a CW Mesa server with around 30 people without any crash.

Hello MrHankey, I had a intuition about the crash problem. Hence I would like you to try something.

Can you move the <Crysis Wars>/casusbelli/Game/Config/CVarGroups/ folder outside your casusbelli folder? (e.g. on your Desktop)

Then run the game and tell me if you're still having crashes.

Regards

Edit: also cleanup your shader cache just in case Wink

I should be running in DX10 and I'll try that now dolphineye.
I also forgot to note that either removing the ZBlendShader.pak from the casusbelli/Game folder or clearing the shader cache did reduce the crashes quite a bit. Stupidly I did both at once so I can't be too sure which action actually improved the situation.

Edit: Alright moving that folder didn't exactly solve it. Got the same crash with the same artifacts (yellow/messed up textures) on first load. However I'm pretty sure now that deleting the shader cache really helps a great deal cause after I did that the map loaded just perfectly well multiple times.

If this casues the problem, we need to delete the shader cache after each closed down of casus belli automaticly, to ensure that the player has a clean start next time and does not experience any crashes on level load.
