It's also a choice, we don't want to have a game where you have to use a full charger to kill someone.
There is already many games for that.

Well to be honest I think that all guns kill way too fast atm, not only the auto snipers.
I think they've found a nice balance between BF2's and BF3's damage, the "time-to-kill" is pretty much perfect for all the other weapons

Fabiolo's right. Although the game is indeed a little bit "who sees firsts kills firsts", that's the way it it.
Yet, it's not exactly a first-seen-first-killed game as one needs skills to take the enemy down an efficient way. See, it's a bit like CS 1.6: if you aim properly, you can take the enemy down in a couple of bullets. If you aim/fire like a moron, you'll be killed first.
Cheers

Because our weapons damages are closer to those of Project Reality/Red Orchestra than BF2. We don't aim at copying/pasting from BF2 to CB. It makes no sense

I think gunfights require a minimum of skills called self control. Even if you have advantage before you engage an ennemy, if you do it the wrong way he can react and kill you. Faster death provide a more realistic and tactical game also. Most of the weapons are harder to use than BF2&3's weapons so I am happy with the damage settings (except semi auto snipers ^^).

I think the problem with the semi auto sniper rifles is the low recoil. As we were plaing the dam on the last beta test one guy owned half the team with the VSS Vintorez. Something like 40:10. Bolt action sniper rifles like the M24 or the SV98 on the other hand should atleast kill with one shot or knock out the guy who got hit. Something like the knock out by explosions would fit quiet well.
All in all the weapon damage is good and I don't want to see the weapons nerfed by the damage valuas as most other game devs do it. The MG3 in BC2 for example is ridiciolus weak. It is more like a SMS and not like a heavy MG. The focus should be on balnacing the maps. Infact this could be reached by giving engough room to manouvre or make flanking moves. And in fact the most maps in CB are quiet balanced.

More people seem to like higher recoil vs lower damage. I feel really stupid for saying this because I was the one who suggested lowering the damage, but dolphineye- giving semi-auto sniper rifles higher recoil instead of lower damage seems like a better idea. I hope it's not too late to change it But bolt action sniper rifles are perfect in my opinion. One-shot-kill weapons shouldn't be in a semi-realistic arcade'ish shooter, it's the biggest fun killer.

OK here what I did for the next patch:
a) -5% of the damage of the VSS/JAE100 b) +15% of the recoil of the VSS/JAE100

I'm not sure if that small damage decrease is necessary, but I'll give you my feedback after this week's play session

I tested semi-auto sniper rifles yesterday and it looks like that small damage decrease actually was necessary, these rifles now kill with 3 shots, so it's not that over powered anymore.
*deleted this paragraph*
My conclusion after yesterday's match: the semi auto sniper rifles feel a lot more balanced now. But I didn't get to try them out enough, I still had to play as a medic quite a lot to support my squad/team so there might be some things I didn't notice.

Hello Orpheus,
That's weird I don't know what causes the autocorrection after a shot.
As far as I know there's no such an option in the weapons XML files.

I'm really sorry, forget that auto-correct part, that was my brain fart I just tested it and no, there is no auto-correct. The sights move slightly down after the shot + I instinctively aimed lower to compensate the recoil- that's what gave me the impression of auto-correct Again, really sorry for the confusion! I'll stop with the suggestions now
