I really want to start advertizing casus belli, but people are not so interested in modding games.
If you guys get approval from crytek to create standalone using CW, please do it fast.

Making a standalone on CE3 requires too much work atm.
Having a standalone on CW requires Crytek to be OK with that.
We contacted them a couple of weeks ago. Let's wait for their reply Wink

If you manage to go stand-alone, does it mean you get access to the game's source code?

Wouldn't going stand alone require you to make all of the assets for the game? Including vegitation, textures and roads, etc.? That may be some more work as well.

I think you should go stand-alone in Cryengine 2 (Crysis Wars), sell on steam for a good price, and then use the revenue to invest in a sequel to Casus Belli, featuring Cryengine 3 and new content.

take it step by step, I say.

Making a CE2 standalone that we could sell on Steam would probably be complicated because of the Crysis Wars IP that belongs to EA.

Possibly Crytek will accept that we make a free standalone on CE2 but we cannot say if we would have to get rid of all of the Crysis Wars assets or not.

We are still waiting for a reply from Crytek to know if we can make Casus Belli standalone or not.

Cheers

The Wreckage mod went standalone, so maybe you guys can too.

But that mod is a single player mod, maybe Crytek has different policies with multiplayer mods.

Yes, Wreckage is a SP mod, so it's probably different as a MP mod normally requires a valid CD key.
We'll let you know when we have more information from Crytek.

It could be a revival for Crysis Wars.

I mean -- EA could officially start to sell Crysis Wars + Casus Belli (without Warhead).

If only...
